About Aria & FUGUE STUDIO

The Aria and Fugue Studio is a private piano and voice home studio located in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. Lessons are taught in the naturally-lit piano room equipped with a Yamaha Grand Piano. The studio has been in existence since 2008 and has worked profusely for the Chester Springs area ever since, providing music direction, accompaniment, teaching, and judging for hundreds of productions and events at various local schools, theaters, colleges, and competitions. The Aria & Fugue pets (such as our labradoodle, Bogey!) are Chester Springs’ resident furry friends and a musician’s favorite cuddle buddies.

ABOUT Marie 

Marie is a sought-after private instructor, music teacher, and accompanist with over 40 years of experience. Originally from Chicago, Marie has taught private piano/voice as well as elementary, middle, and high schools around the country. She can play everything – from Classical music to Broadway shows to rock and pop music. Marie received her Master's of Music Education with Piano Performance from West Chester University. She is a member of and on the board as Secretary of the local chapter of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and is a member of MLMTA (Mainline Music Teachers Association).

Offerings

private Beginner through Advanced piano

Marie is a skilled instructor in piano. Lessons build proficiency in:

• Posture

• Knowledge of music theory

• Advanced playing technique

• Repertoire

• Knowledge of classical composers and their bodies of work

College Audition Piano Prep

Every session will include:

• scale work, arpeggio work, sight-reading exercises, technique, and muscle-building exercises

• repertoire requirements for multiple chosen colleges

• music history for understanding each musical time period

• interpreting the stylistic idioms for each piece

I will help with recordings for each audition and will ensure the student is following all guidelines for each individual school. Purchase package price of $600 per month. Lessons with Marie should start at least 3-6 months before the audition submission due date. Please reach out with any questions you may have.

private Voice

Private voice lessons correct unhealthy singing habits and establish the foundation of healthy singing, allowing singers to apply the technique to any singing style. Learn how to:

• Utilize the head and chest registers to safely belt

• Anchor the breathing for proper airflow

• Increase repertoire in musical theater, classical, and rock styles

Voice students are highly encouraged to study beginner piano to be better musicians

VOCAL COACHING

Marie helps in the choice of repertoire for theatre and college auditions. 

AUDITIONING FOR A MUSICAL, A CAPPELLA, OR A BAND?

*Add 15 minutes to your regular lessons to spend extra time on audition song, stage presence, movement, and monologues.

THEORY TIME!

*Add 15 minutes to the end of your lesson to spend time on the Full Voice Theory for Singers. This will also benefit middle school and high school singers for choirs + college placement tests.

AccompanIMENT

Marie is available to accompany auditions, recitals, theatre productions, and concerts. Her skill in following and adapting to the artistic adaptation of the vocalist allows performers to feel confident that they will be at their best in any performance or audition. Contact Marie for more information on her accompanying rates.
